The Primax Scanner Driver Project for Linux/UN*X has the goal to make Primax Scanners work under Linux, since Primax seems to do not worry about Linux (I personally tried to contact them…). This project developed a text only program, called primax_scan.
So, I had a look at http://www.na.linux.hr/electronic/primax/ and found a GUI implementation for primax_scan: Primax GUI. But I thought I could improve it and did it.
Yet Another Primax GUI is the result of many modifications to Primax GUI, which gives you now support to all command line options from primax_scan in a GUI interface and something more. Since version 3.0 Yet Another Primax GUI supports pxscan, which is a driver for Primax Colorado Direct 9600 scanner. You can get it from http://home2.swipnet.se/~w-25069/pxscan.html.
This program was written to work together primax_scan v0.93beta or pxscan 0.4, so you may have problems running it with other version if they do not have the same command line options or a different syntax. It was written in Tk/Tcl using Visual TCL, so it may work in any operational system witch run Tk and primax_scan or pxscan.
The following scanners are supported by primax_scan:
pxscan works together this scanner:
Note that many scanners, like some Genius scanners or TCE scanners are in truth Primax scanners. You can search for your scanner's FCC-ID at http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/ to know witch is really your scanner. Usually the FCC-ID number can be found printed somewhere in your scanner. Here comes a list of scanners manufactured by other companies which works with these drivers:
TCE S440

If you know another scanner that also works with primax_scan or pxscan, please let me know.
The latest release was on 2002.01.06.
